What Christians fail to understand is that eternity and time cannot coexist. There is either time or there is eternity. They believe that their future holds eternity and that they are merely on earth for a short period where they are not held accountable for their actions except that they must be sworn in allegiance to Christ. The problem comes when they realize that they are worshiping an idea of God that they made in image of themselves. They adhere to a name or the very essence of an ego and they act accordingly. They hang on to the idea of forgiveness but only as relates to their own bad behavior. The heathen who do not adhere to the kowtowing to the name of their God are considered worthless because they don’t know Jesus.
They have no reverence for life if it doesn’t help them in their fundraising to build a bigger state of the art church. Their thoughts center on money as did most of the sermons from the Bible. Their Jesus is petty, stingy, needy, punitive and indifferent to the suffering of the feminine. There is a passage in one of the books of the Bible where Peter has a vision where he is shown that everything on the face of the earth is ok for human consumption. The Hebrew bible would beg to differ. Isaiah talks about the coming of a kingdom that is lacking in violence and egoic self-centeredness. Because Christians believe in a Christian centered universe they have little regard for planetary concerns at present because they believe that when things start to get really hairy here on earth Jesus will descend from the heavens and raise them up. They think they will be whisked away to paradise not having changed or really learned anything while they were on earth because they were too rote to read anything other than the Bible. After they get to the new planet they can trash it like they did this one because they never learned to share.
I think it would be beneficial to society if biblical texts were just considered with reflection and as an example of what God isn’t. Sometimes I ask myself why “God” would want his believers to be scared shitless of the end times. Who would terrorize their children like that? It’s funny too that up until about a century ago most women weren’t educated well enough to be literate. It’s so convenient that God would write a book about the patriarchy and only make it understandable by a small percentage of the population’s elite. Then the Catholic Church apparently has so much to hide that in it’s services or masses they only speak Latin – a language by and large forgotten. The Catholic Church is build on mounds of the dead – always promising a future in heaven while delivering a present in hell.
Their type of religion is built on prosperity gospel. They think that because they are rich that they are somehow morally superior and more valued by the divine. It’s a scam! In their churches there is no punishment for pedophiles; there is no justice for women and children. The church is predatory. It is the way of the colonizer. They commit genocide in the name of spreading the gospel. If they cannot get you to give them your assets they’ll push you off your land or worse, strip you of your culture and force indigenous people to learn their language and religion with penalty of death for noncompliance.
I have been to every church in my hometowns county and believe me, there’s a lot. Not one impressed me with an outpouring of love but every one thought I was sinning if I didn’t give a tithe every week. They are vultures. If they were disciples of God why don’t they heal their sick or house the homeless? It was never about helping people know Jesus, it was about stripping resources from the marginalized and giving them to the rich.
